HISTORY

LOS PLANTRONICS – playing MARIACHI DEATH SURF for 20 YEARS – “meksikansk styrke, norsk kvalitet”

– a stunning blend of electrified swamp-R&B, garage-soul-boogaloo, rockabilly, mariachi madness, Stax instrumentals, blaxploitation sounds, surf guitars and spaghetti tunes. Featuring some x-tra ordinary contributions from a blasting horn section (who are: BENDIK BRÆNNE, HANS FOYN FRIIS & EIVIND SOLHEIM), space-surf guitars from guitar virtuoso EIVIND STAXRUD, animalistic voodoo groove from SLIM SLAMMER, low bass-frequences from LARS ERIK LARSEN (which hits you where it hurts), swampy Hammond organ tones from DIDRIK LUND and primal fuzz-tones from guitar slinger, and head honcho; SIGNOR HAVN.

“They call their music ‘Mariachi Death Surf’, but it’s so much more. Spaghetti westerns (inc. horns), Link Wray twang, tex mex, Cramps, exotica, and garagepunk are all tossed into one redhot stew, and one third of the tunes features vocals from their masked drummer, one badass dude!” – Jens/Lowcut Magazine (dk)

– through the years they have released 7 albums, several 7 inches and have songs featured on compilations in Mexico, USA, Germany, UK, Sweden, Norway etc.

“With crunchy, twangy guitars, powerful rhythms and occasional horns, this band delivers a powerhouse sound. The originals are excellent and they also do unique takes on tunes like “Casbah”, “Lonesome Traveller” and “Shake N Stomp”. Most of the tunes are instros, but there are a few spooky psychobilly-style vocal cuts as well. This CD is a definite must-have! – Double Crown Magazine 2003 (us)

– they have toured Norway, Sweden, Denmark, France, U.K., Germany, Belgia, Netherland, Greece, Portugal, and they have criss-crossed Spain at several occasions. And finally a trip to Mexico took place in 2011. On their way they have shared the stage with Dick Dale, Andre Williams, The Sadies, The Hives, Robert Johnson & Punchdrunks, The Defectors, Los Coronas, Lost Acapulco, The Nomads, The Fuzztones, Hellacopters, Radio Birdmen, Big John Bates, The Hangmen, Jim Jones Revue, The Urban Voodoo Machine, Bambi Molesters, Gluecifier, Kike Turmix, Ebbot of TSOOL etc.

“Not that the music is right up my alley or my cup of tea, but I sort of get impressed by the energy and the will power of a band going all the way like this.” – Håvard Hoppøyen/Luna Kafe 2007 (N)

20 years and still looking forward

– Los Plantronics turned 20 years this year (2015), and celebrated the aniversay with a gigantic show and album release at Parkteatret (Oslo) in May, 20 years after the first Los Plantronics gig. The show included former band members and other musical guests, an 8-piece horn section, five flamenco and belly-dancers, with a total of 30 people on stage for the final number.

At the moment Los Plantronics are gigging and planning the next tour, as well as working on new songs.

Stay tuned!
